MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

NAPIA seeks as Regular Members all those whose primary activity is responsibility for investment analysis in the petroleum, petroleum services, and related industries within their organizations. This group includes professional investment research analysts, investment bankers, investment advisors, portfolio managers, and petroleum economists.

Associate Members should have a professional interest in petroleum investment analysis, and the fundamentals of the industry and its finances. This group includes industry consultants, investor relations executives, commercial lenders, educators, economists, government officials, past NAPIA speakers, and others.

Retiree Members are those who have been past members who are currently retired or inactive.

The basic requirement for membership is a professional interest and involvement in the understanding of the worldwide petroleum industry.

NAPIA GOALS AND MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

NAPIA’s primary goal is educational – to help its members stay well informed on the factors and trends that affect the petroleum industry and its investment prospects so that investors in petroleum and related industries can make sound investment decisions based on the most current information and first hand knowledge. NAPIA strives to accomplish this primary goal mainly through a network of strategic alliances with similar organizations in organizing and sponsoring events, presentations, papers, field trips, and/or educational seminars, on topics and in areas of the world, of current industry interest. NAPIA events bring together both the ‘buy’ side and the ‘sell’ side of the investment industry, as well as corporate representatives and senior management from the petroleum industry in a professional, educational, collegial environment. Because NAPIA members represent a significant portion of the invested capital in the major financial markets of the world, and our members play an important role in allocating capital to the worldwide petroleum industry, NAPIA is able to attract top management and leading industry experts as presenters to their programs. As a non-profit organization, NAPIA offers a most economical fee structure, particularly in relation to the value added and scope of its programs.

NAPIA programs and activities are of benefit and interest to those experienced in finance and the petroleum industry, but also, and perhaps equally important, to those who are new to petroleum investment analysis. NAPIA is particularly useful for those analysts who follow   petroleum as only one of several industry groups they may be responsible for. The exposure and interaction opportunities with fellow analysts, and industry management, on topics of current interest is unique. The presentations, papers, webcasts, seminars and events with top level industry and consultant speakers, are opportunities to stay on top of your industry in a time and cost effective manner.

NAPIA provides its members with subscriptions to a number of key petroleum investment publications, included in the membership dues, as well as complimentary web seminars, and invitations to special energy investment meetings either free or at the member rate of our affiliated organizations. Value greatly exceeds the cost of membership.

Other goals of NAPIA include; 1) Interaction – NAPIA encourages an active interchange of ideas and information between analysts, petroleum industry corporate executives, investor relations representatives, consultants, and other industry experts at Association events and educational seminars. In addition, NAPIA maintains strategic relationships with other professional organizations with shared professional interests (see LINKS section of this web site);  2) Directory – NAPIA publishes an annual Directory of its membership, regarded as the 'Who's Who' of the petroleum investment universe; 3) Employment NAPIA maintains a listing of petroleum analyst positions available, and a  listing of those seeking employment in petroleum investment; and 4) Professional Recognition – NAPIA members are recognized and respected as professionals in their field, and NAPIA organizes recognition for distinguished investor relation executives for awards in excellence in investor relations and corporate reporting.
